Biography

Timarie Fisk’s art and design education began at Memphis College of Art, where she received her Bachelors of Fine Art with honors. She received her Masters of Arts degree, from the University of Alabama Birmingham. Additionally, she was the recipient of the Greenfield-Polk artist residency award which allowed her to study at Burren College of Art in County Claire, Ireland.

Timarie started her creative career as a designer for Elite Video Inc, where she worked as a cinematographer and designer producing films, videos, animations, websites, and print design. Her love of teaching drew her to the field of education. At Spain Park High School, Timarie instructed college credit advanced placement students and was the co-gallery director of the Spain Park Gallery. Moving to Vestavia Hills High School allowed her the opportunity to develop curriculum for digital photography and digital art courses. She has organized, written, and received numerous art related grants. She currently runs her own Macintosh Computer Lab with 20 Intel iMacs. She is an active member in the Birmingham Art Educators Association (BAEA).

Timarie’s true passion lies in creating art work. She spends much of her free time developing ideas and working on pieces in her studio. Her work deals with personal documentation of life, history, memories, and people. She strives for the immediate beauty that can be appreciated before the viewer makes a personal connection with the work. The fluid line, the curve of a figure, the organic nature; these elements seduce the viewer into taking a closer look. Timarie’s work is beautiful on the surface with deeper meaning lying in wait. In addition to an active showing record in galleries and museums, Timarie has work in several permanent collections.
